The other days one o our friends updated her Facebook status to read; "So many ideas, so little time". At the time I was crocheting a pair of slippers for my grandma, Halloween decorations all over the house, my son reading a Frosty the Snowman book, and a pumpkin pie candle burning on the manttle. It's not even halloween yet, and here I am making up mock thanksgiving day menu's and posting about christmas ornaments. When this time of the year comes around, it seems holidays just pile up one top of the other and ideas just come rushing in.
I'm still working on Halloween costumes, I've yet to buy the candy, and some how all the window displays yell Christmas. Its a frenzy and a rush, the change of season, decorating in black and orange, then fall colors, and before you know it green, white and red. What's a girl to do??
Here's what you do... you decorate the house and make the costumes, while pilling up the closet with all of your christmas finds and collecting recipes you'd love to make for thanksgiving in you recipe binder/drawer. You keep a box with all your trimmings ready for a quick session of sequined ornament-making in case you should find a spare moment, and take your knitting projects with you for the inevitable doctors appointment waiting room. And even though you might not get to make that adorable poncho you so want to wear over the holidays, you might just get to everything else your creativity throws at you.
I was lucky enough to have one of those elusive spare moments yesterday, and even though I had plenty of work, I decided to steal a little time and work on a few of my ornaments. It was a productive half hour, so productive it seemed much longer. It was peaceful and quiet and stress free, and at the end of my little break, I had finished one of my ornaments!!!! A few years back my mom and I would make at least 6 or 7 each, but now a days, I'm happy to add 1 new ornament each year.
Who knows, if I get another little break in the next few weeks I might just finish the blue and gold ornament I've pictured above before the holidays!!! Now that would be a real bonus!!! As for all the other ideas, I'll work them in as I best as I can!! How about you?? How many ideas and much time do you have?!?!?!?
Thanks for stopping by!!Natalia
